Why does the app need VPN access?

Modified on Mon, 20 Apr at 8:36 AM

The VPN connection is how Loop VPN measures your app and web usage. It allows us to see which apps and websites you use and for how long — this is the data that generates your rewards.

RealityMeter uses a VPN on mobile devices as part of how measurement works.

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) creates a secure connection between the phone and RealityMeter's measurement services. This allows certain network activity on the device to be measured in a privacy-safe way.

The VPN is not used to improve browsing, hide identity, or filter traffic. Its role is purely to support measurement.

What to expect: Like any VPN, it can affect how a phone connects to the internet. For most users this impact is small, but it can vary depending on the device, operating system, network quality, and other apps installed on the phone.
